Singer/actor will play Callaway clubs
At age 27, Timberlake has won seven Grammy awards and an Emmy. His most recent accomplishment, however, brings him into the world of golf. Callaway Golf has recently reached an agreement with the singer/actor to endorse and play Callaway Golf equipment and carry a Callaway Golf-branded golf bag.
With combined album sales of more than 60 million worldwide, Timberlake is one of the most successful artists in pop music to date. An avid golfer since the age of 10, Timberlake plays to a 6 handicap. “I think this is the toughest game I’ve ever played,” says Timberlake, who dabbles in sports of all kinds. While he currently averages around 50 rounds a year, he hopes to double that in the coming years. What’s in his bag? Timberlake plays the new FT-iQ Driver, an FT-i Squareway 3 wood, a 3H FT Hybrid, FT Irons, X-Forged Wedges, which he had custom fitted at the Callaway Golf Tour Fit Van in Arizona, and Tour i Series Golf Balls.
In addition to musician and athlete, Timberlake adds restaurateur, fashion designer and now golf course owner to his résumé. He recently opened three restaurants, NYC’s Southern Hospitality and Destino, and West Hollywood’s Chi, and launched William Rast, a fashion line named for his and his business partner’s grandfathers. In October, he hosted the PGA Tour’s Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas and announced his recent purchase of the former Big Creek Golf Course in Memphis, Tenn. Timberlake has closed the course for renovations, and will reopen it under the name Mirimichi Lakes in the summer of 2009. The course’s clubhouse will be seeking Platinum LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, and aims to be the first certified inside the U.S.
