In 2006, Callaway Staff Pro Phil Mickelson, along with his wife Amy, created the Birdies For the Brave national military initiative to support combat-wounded veterans. With vast support from Callaway Golf and the PGA Tour, its already raised more than $11 million.

On Tuesday afternoon at The Barclays, Phil and a massive crowd gathered at Ridgewood Country Club to show their appreciation for the armed forces and to accept a $100,000 check from Callaway Golf (presented by Nick Raffaele, Callaway’s vice president of sports marketing) to support Birdies for the Brave.

“We all as citizens of the United States have an obligation to the men and women who are putting their lives on the line,” Mickelson said.  “I’m so appreciative of what they do. My best way to show appreciation is to bring people together so that when they come home from their service, they know how loved they are and how appreciated they are. And also to make sure that their quality of life is as good as it can be.”

Check out the photos below for more details on the ceremony, as well as the graphic showing all the ways Callaway Golf supports the military.
