The Top 5 Callaway Clubs at Pinehurst

Jeff Newton

We’ve got a full lineup of Tour superstars on #TeamCallaway who have momentum on their side and equipment they count on to deliver under pressure. They’re some of the big favorites this week and it’s with that in mind that we now give you (in no particular order) the top 5 Callaway clubs at Pinehurst*.

1. Jim Furyk’s Big Bertha Driver

The specs: 9-degrees, Neutral directional bias and standard loft. The Adjustable Perimeter Weighting slide is set to 1/fade.

The story: He’s one of the hottest players in golf right now, and he continues to quietly go about his business. He’s in the top-15 in driving accuracy on Tour, and look at his numbers this season: 12-of-12 cuts made, 5 top-10s, back-to-back runner-up finishes last month, 12th in the FedExCup. He’s at his best on tough courses and at Pineurst, he’ll be playing from the right spots all week.

2. Henrik Stenson’s X2 Hot Pro Driver

The specs: 8.5-degrees, 45.5″ long, set to Neutral directional bias and Standard loft adjustability, Grafalloy Blue X Shaft.

The story: Hey look, another driver! The No. 2 ranked player in the world is peaking at the right time. He hammers long, straight drives and when you look at Pinehurst’s wide fairways, potentially 7,500+ yard layout, and Stenson’s incredible iron play, you can see why he’s one of the favorites. His distance and accuracy off the tee will give him a huge advantage this week.

3. Phil Mickelson’s Mack Daddy 2 Tour Grind Wedge

The specs: 56-degrees, T Grind

Speaking of advantages, Lefty’s long been considered the best short game player in the world. Throw in Pinehurst’s notoriously difficult setup around the greens and Phil’s wedge play becomes even more of a factor. This new wedge will give Phil the options he needs to go after pitches, chips and bunker shots to help him walk away with pars where other players will make bogeys.

4. Chris Kirk’s Apex Pro Irons

Let’s make this quick, Kirk’s been throwing darts since he first moved into Apex Pro Irons last month. His pinpoint shotmaking served him well at Colonial and Muirfield Village, and it will do the same at Pinehurst.

5. SR 3 Golf Ball (Take Your Pick On Players)

The performance and distance in SR 3 has been proven over and over with PGA Tour wins (Matt Every, Patrick Reed twice), major championships (Colin Montgomerie at the Regions Tradition, LPGA Kraft Nabisco Championship), and it’s the #1 Callaway Ball at Pinehurst. Mickelson, Reed, Furyk and Every are just a few of our guys who are playing it to #FlyFarther this week.

Other Notables: Gary Woodland’s Big Bertha Driver, Harris English’s X2 Hot Pro Driver
