Well, it looks like switching to Callaway has paid immediate dividends for our new PGA Tour Staff Pros. At the Sony Open alone, our guys Harris English, Matt Every and Pat Perez all posted top-10s while Chris Kirk and Brian Stuard made their runs at the win too.
Kirk finished solo second at 16-under, one shot off the winning score, with an 8.5° Big Bertha Alpha Driver and an X2 Hot 3-wood in the bag. His driver has 9.9° of actual loft and a Mitsubishi Diamana D+ 62x Shaft. Now when you throw in this big finish on top of his win at the McGladrey Classic, you can see why he’s up to No. 2 in the FedExCup standings.
Speaking of the FedExCup, Chris’ buddy Harris English is up to No.3 after a strong 4th place finish at Sony that included rounds of 66-66-67-67. The new Team Callaway member absolutely crushed his 8.5° X2 Hot Pro Driver as he averaged 303.2 yards per drive on the week and used a new Odyssey Versa 2-Ball Putter to finish third in Putts Per GIR. Apparently he’s just going to keep playing well ever week, which is okay by us.
Meanwhile, Pat Perez and Matt Every both posted T8 finishes in their first starts as Callaway Staff Pros. Perez’s equipment included a Big Bertha Driver, Apex Pro Irons and a version of our new SR 3 Golf Ball. Every also played a Big Bertha Driver and Apex Pro Irons along with an X2 Hot Pro 3-wood. Great playing, guys!
Grace Runner-up at Volvo Golf Champions, Manassero Top-10 In Callaway Debut
Our Callaway Pros were in the mix on the European Tour as well, highlighted by Branden Grace’s second-place finish at the star-studded Volvo Golf Champions.
He used a new SR 3 Ball that’s designed to deliver the best aerodynamic performance for swing speeds of 105 mph and above, and X Forged Irons to hit pinpoint shots into the green.
New staffer Matteo Manassero made a solid Callaway debut at the event and posted a top-10 finish. His new bag included an 8.5° Big Bertha Driver, Big Bertha Fairway Wood, two X2 Hot Pro Hybrids and an Odyssey Versa Putter. He’s off to a great start!
