The greatest golfers have always been great iron players. Hitting long drives and putting well are important, of course, but controlling your trajectory and distance are what it’s all about if you want to step up your performance. So says David Leadbetter in this new video as he walks you through his best tips to hit solid irons shots.
Here are David’s key thoughts:
– Put the ball back in your stance
– Choke down on the club
– Make a half swing, letting the hands lead the clubhead
– Use a 3/4 “punchy” follow-through
It’s all about hitting the ball on the center of the face with a descending angle. You have to hit down on the ball.
Practice these steps and once you start to get into your full swing, you’ll feel the same sensation, and you’ll hit great iron shots.
