Versa dominated over Memorial Day Weekend with clutch victories on the PGA Tour (Versa 2-Ball) and Web.com Tour (Versa 90 #7). The two victories for Versa fueled a 4-win weekend for Odyssey, which also picked up a major win at the Senior PGA Championship and a hard-fought win on the LPGA Tour.
At the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, a Versa 2-Ball rolled to a one-shot win at one of the PGA Tour’s most historic venues. This huge victory marked back-to-back wins for Odyssey on the PGA Tour after Sang-Moon Bae won with a Tour Milled #1 Putter at the HP Byron Nelson Championship. And of course it was another landmark moment for Versa, which is the fastest growing new putter brand on Tour.
The 4 wins on Sunday added to Odyssey’s putter count wins last week at both the BMW PGA Championship (the European Tour’s flagship event) and the Sr. PGA Championship.
In fact, our new counterbalance Tank #7 Putter was the #1 model at the BMW PGA Championship, and we had more putters in play there than the next four brands COMBINED! The numbers were incredible, especially at an event that featured one of the best fields in golf.
With these 4 tournament wins, Odyssey now leads all putter brands with 29 worldwide Tour wins this year. For more Tour news from the #1 Putter in Golf, please visit our Tour home page.
Warren Reaches Playoff at BMW PGA Championship, Els T6
Callaway staffer Marc Warren shot a final round 69 to earn his spot in a three-man playoff at the BMW PGA Championship. Warren shot 69-70-70-69 and ultimately finished T2 at the European Tour’s flagship event with an X Hot Driver (9.5°), RAZR Fit Xtreme 3-wood, X Forged Irons, a new version of our HEX Chrome+ Golf Ball, and an Odyssey ProType iX #1 Putter. Warren moved to 16th in the European Tour’s Race to Dubai standings after his strong performance at Wentworth.
Meanwhile, Ernie Els carded a final round 67 and finished T6 with a RAZR Fit Xtreme Driver (9.5°), two RAZR Fit Xtreme Fairway Woods, RAZR X Muscleback Irons and a HEX Black Tour Ball. The Big Easy’s game has rounded into form after a great showing over the weekend and at Augusta last month. Now that he’s putting well and hitting the ball great, he should be a threat at the U.S. Open in a few weeks.
Kirk Puts In New X Hot 3Deep and HEX Chrome+
The half inch shorter length allows Chris to turn the ball over and still gives him the ability to hit high, soft cuts. And in his first tournament with X Hot 3Deep, he ranked seventh in driving distance at Colonial with a 302.3 yard average (not bad!).
Chris also put a new HEX Chrome+ Golf Ball in play at Colonial. He had tested it for several weeks at home and told our reps that it was a fantastic ball.
