It’s a local story, an innovation story and a manufacturing story rolled up into a ball.
Our golf ball plant in Chicopee, Massachusetts has been synonymous with groundbreaking technology since the 1770s when the first skilled craftsmen came to the area to work for the National Armory under the direction of President Washington. History is ingrained in the walls of our Chicopee facility, which has been producing golf balls since 1896.
Already the fastest-growing major golf ball company since 2013, over the last three years — under President & CEO Chip Brewer — Callaway has invested $50M to modernize the Chicopee facility with state-of-the-art machinery, adding advanced engineers and technical processes. This investment has resulted in the most modern ball facility in the world, spurred the technology behind the PGA TOUR’s lowest official score of 58, and now, our highest quality and most consistent golf ball, Chrome Soft.
The over $50M+ investment in the our Chicopee Ball Plant has completely revolutionized golf ball manufacturing processes and engineering. Our factory modernization has yielded a 60% increase in personnel, introduced automated robots to golf ball production, and implemented the first three-dimensional X-Ray process to measure ball construction and core concentricity. We have devoted ourselves to making the highest quality and most consistent TOUR ball on the market.
