The all-new Opus SP+ with Spin Pocket™ Construction + Tungsten, a new extension of our Opus SP Wedge Family. Tour-preferred shaping with an even higher center of gravity is engineered for more spin and precision.
Opus SP+ features a re-engineered 3-piece construction head design (Tungsten, MIM Face, Cast 8620 Body) that strategically reshapes mass to optimize CG locations – with a 25% larger Spin Pocket compared to Opus SP. The construction redistributes weight higher, raising the CG, and promoting a more penetrating launch. The result is more spin and enhanced control, especially when you need to flight shots or attack tight pins.
Positioned on the topline of the wedge, there is 23% more tungsten in Opus SP+ compared to Opus Platinum. The tungsten works in tandem with the Spin Pocket Construction to raise the CG even higher, generating more spin and a flighted launch - from full shots to pitches around the green.
A new 17° groove angle with tighter pitch spacing delivers more groove edge contact for more consistent spin across a variety of lies. Combined with a deeper cross-hatch laser pattern across the face, Spin Gen 2.0 produces enhanced friction for more bite and stopping power on all types of approach shots.
The Tour-proven Shape 6 offers precise leading edge shaping and refined sole geometry. Shape 6 is the 6th and final iteration in the Opus prototype shaping phase, validated by Tour players and major champions.
“Opus SP+ takes on the best qualities of Opus SP, with lower launch, more spin, and engineering control,” said Callaway R&D Wedge Manager, Brian Herr. “We’ve taken theSpin Pocket and made it larger; we’ve hollowed out more of the sole and doing that allows us to put Tungsten up in the topline. We have a larger Spin Pocket than we had in Opus SP. We’ve also added even more Tungsten up top to raise the CG, which allows us to flight the ball lower for more control.” To learn more, visit callawaygolf.com.
